Phil Waldrep Ministries announced June 2, 2009 the launch date for their new radio program, "Living with Joy" will be Monday, October 5, 2009. A list of stations airing the program will be available in September.

The daily 25-minute broadcast will be hosted by Phil Waldrep and will feature different personalities each day.

Montgomery, Alabama

Evangelist Phil Waldrep was one of the speakers for the 2008 Alabama Baptist Pastor's Conference at the East Memorial Baptist Church here November 17. Waldrep was invited to speak by the president of the conference, Reverend Rich Evans, pastor of the Dalraida Baptist Church in Montomgery. As Evans introduced Waldrep, his voice broke with emotion as he recounted the ministry Waldrep had extended to his family during the tragic death of his grandson.   

"Phil contacted us and invited us to be part of a conference," Evans said, referring to his attendance at the North Alabama Pastor's Encouragement Retreat in February 2007. "It was a time of healing for us."

Evans, giving details about the ministry, called Waldrep a "friend of pastors." The Alabama Baptist, the official newspaper of the Alabama Baptist Convention, reported the details of Waldrep's message. Speaking from Mark 1 on "Who is Jesus", the paper reported:

Sam McElroy has been named as the Executive Director of Phil Waldrep Ministries effective June 1, according to Evangelist Phil Waldrep. McElroy has served as the Associate Pastor for Music and Adminstration since 1988 at the First Baptist Church in Milan, Tennessee.

"We are excited about Sam and his wife, Teresa, being a part of our team," Waldrep said in a statement released Monday morning, April 28. "Sam has the gifts and the skills we need to take us to the next level."   

Born in 1951, McElroy gave his life to Christ at 10 years of age at the Fairfield Heights Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. A graduate of Samford University, he and his wife have two sons, Anthony and Garrett.
